Product Strategy, Design and Visual

objective and challenge

The GlobosatPlay is a ​Tv Everywhere platform for Grupo Globo. They contain more than 18 channels of diverse content from sports, entertainment and journalism​, delivering more than 3500 episodes and movies​ and 12 channels of live content​.

For olympic games a new look was built for the sports channel homepage adding new visual concepts for the platform by my friend and colleague Felipe Victor. After the success of the solution, I leaded the ​ activities to ​continue the project for all other channels and internal pages.

 

TV EVERYWHERE

The objective of the project was to create a new video platform that respects the diversity of content channels, but had a consistent experience among them all. The possibility of adding new channels at any time, ​required flexibility for this project.​ Due to this reason, the design had been focused on providing a solution based on components, that will work as "Lego" pieces, allowing multiple combinations to build white label pages..

 

ARQUITECTURE

The objective of the project was to create a new video platform that respects the diversity of content channels, but had a consistent experience among them all. The possibility of adding new channels at any time, ​required flexibility for this project.​ Due to this reason, the design had been focused on providing a solution based on components, that will work as "Lego" pieces, allowing multiple combinations to build white label pages.

 

WHITELABEL + COMPONENTS

We built the platform in a way that it could be flexible to receive new channels and even build other products using the same code base. As mentioned before, we have made a necessary component guide on the platform, covering most of the programs that TV has. There are components for auditorium programs and series that allow the binge-watch, all giving the best experience for each context for the user.

 

DATA DRIVEN

After a long study of the components that existed in the previous platform, we look at the features that have better conversion and the interest of users in them. Remove things that caused complexity and confusion at the time of consumption and seek solutions that were visually strong and always evidencing a video for quick consumption. All pages in the main stream has a video in evidence, directing the user to use over long periods.

 

PROGRAMS

This page is the intermediate step of consumption and sell the essence of the program, to pass the emotion that has the content before the user gives the Play. The page has a great cover with good scenes of the series and organize the content according to the type of the program. Novels, Series and auditorium programs had their specific treatment.

 

CONSUPTION

Not every content is sliced in episodes. So, the consuming page is the direct access to Films and Documentaries, so it have in evidence the content of the media. For series, soap operas and auditorium programs, built a small playlist with easy access for sequential consumption, the player that is a separate team on globo.com, also built in partnership, a series of features that facilitated the continuous consumption .

 

SEO & UNLOGGED USERS

Products that have a paywall usually have a bad SEO, and to circumvent it and help our users find the unique content of the platform, we made a special treatment of the pages, putting the content in evidence for the search robots and facilitating the access in trial Through Facebook.
